What is a Detailed Design?
A Detailed Design is conducted using a top-down approach where all design elements in a project are first identified, and then further described in increasing detail as the item is fully defined. During this stage final design calculations are performed, with schematics, diagrams and layouts produced.
In addition to calculations and drawings, a specification is produced for each individual element within the project, this specification will contain data that varies depending on the design item being described, but may include:
All documents produced during a Detailed Design are compiled, along with the Feasibility Study documents, and provided to the construction company to be used as reference during the Construction phase of a project.
