Feasibility Study Overview
The Feasibility Study for the North Terrace Drainage Design was conducted by Hydro-Future following it's absorption of the employees of DaVinci Engineering, WaterSolutions and Green Drainage Solutions. Having grown to 29 employees, a new management team was appointed, as shown in the Project Team page for the Feasibility Study.
The Management Structure used for the Feasibility Study was based upon the structure defined by Hydro-Future during the Feasibility Tender, and can be found within the Hydro-Future Feasibility Tender submission. This structure includes both a Project Manager & Assistant Project Manager/Quality Manager, as well as team leaders for each of the project teams, these teams include:
The new Management team held a client meeting with both Tim Kerby of Tonkin Consulting and Faisal Ahammed of UniSA. During this meeting a number of design options were defined, to be further developed during the feasibility study. These design options include:
Although the development of these options was the responsibility of the Water Services team, the remaining project teams also had a number of issues to be resolved, both in relation to each design option as well as for the project as a whole. Some of the major issues to be resolved included:
The solutions to these issues as well as many others, and the developed design options for the Water Services team are detailed within the Feasibility Study report, which can be downloaded here.

The new Management team held a client meeting with both Tim Kerby of Tonkin Consulting and Faisal Ahammed of UniSA. During this meeting a number of design options were defined, to be further developed during the feasibility study. These design options include:
- Upgrading existing infrastructure
- Swale Design
- Water Sensitive Urban Design & Infiltration
- Water Harvesting
- Combined Drainage
Although the development of these options was the responsibility of the Water Services team, the remaining project teams also had a number of issues to be resolved, both in relation to each design option as well as for the project as a whole. Some of the major issues to be resolved included:
- Connecting the stormwater pipe into the existing 150 year old sandstone arch culvert (Structural/Geotechnical Design)
- Definition of a traffic plan to manage the traffic flows during construction given North Terrace is a Class 6 Major Arterial Road (Transport Management)
- Definition and analysis of the soil profile in the area (Structural/Geotechnical Design)
- Development of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) (Environmental)
The solutions to these issues as well as many others, and the developed design options for the Water Services team are detailed within the Feasibility Study report, which can be downloaded here.
